John Cohen, LPC

I worked 18 years in the juvenile justice system providing assessment and counseling services to adolescents and their families. I  also worked in a psychiatric hospital setting and began working as a primary therapist in wilderness in 2007. I was part of the first mental health unit serving juvenile offenders in the state of Ohio.

I obtained a BA in Psychology from Ohio State University and an MS in Clinical Counseling from the University of Dayton. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) since 1997 and have been doing therapy with a variety of populations for over 25 years. Most recently, I helped start and develop an international adventure therapy program in Costa Rica. I served as clinical director for the past 3 years in two different programs.

In my spare time I love to mountain bike, hike, snowboard, cross-country ski, skate ski, back country snowboard, and play guitar. I am a musician on the side and have been in many bands over the years. I love hiking with my dog Pliskin and have enjoyed raising him from just 8 weeks old. I have guided biking trips all over the U.S. and also was the founder of a Mountain Bike club. I can frequently be seen riding my Motorcycle seeking out a new adventure.
